Collection Development Plan for the Jarrell LibraryFebruary 2020 - May 2020
In my Collection Management course I worked with a team of 5 to create a Collection Development plan for the Jarrell Community Library (JCL) in Jarrell, TX. JCL is a small, volunteer-run library. During this process we communicated with the volunteer coordinator to learn more about the community and its needs. I assisted with research and data collection, authored several sections and worked with group members to edit the recommended practices and policies. At the end of the project, we sent the finalized plan to the head volunteer, where it was put forward for board review. |
Reading the Rainbow: Evaluating the Collection of the Gender and Sexuality Center’s Ana Sisnett LibraryJanuary 2021 - May 2021
The Gender and Sexuality Center at the University of Texas at Austin is home to the Ana Sisnett Library and has a large collection of books, magazines, zines, and DVDs. The goal of my capstone project was to evaluate the current selection, cataloging and deselection methods of the library, and recommended practices that streamline collection processes and increase the library’s ability to meet the needs of its patrons. Through research, meetings with stakeholders and focus groups I was able to create a short and long term collection development plan. I also performed cataloging updates and created a new primer focusing on disabilities in the LGBTQ+ community. LibGuidesFor my Library Instruction and Information Literacy course (Spring 2020), I created a LibGuide to assist K-12 educators and librarians in finding various resources and best practices for students learning about American Indian boarding schools. Additionally, in my role at the Texas State Law Library I have assisted in the creation and editing of LibGuide and LibGuide pages, including the Weather Emergencies LibGuide. |
