About Me.
My library love story starts in Cincinnati, Ohio, where my local library provided me with the resources, internet access and programming I needed to thrive as a homeschooler.
It wasn't until I joined the staff at the Norwood Branch of the Cincinnati and Hamilton County Public Library that realized that I could transform my love of libraries into a career. I worked with a team that day in and day out supported a local community dealing with economic hardship, the digital divide and the growing presence of substance use. Through programming, technical trainings and relationship building, I got to be apart of an organization working with its community to effectuate positive change. My focus throughout my time at the University of Michigan and the University of Texas at Austin has been on how organizations like libraries can serve all patrons, especially those who have traditionally been excluded and underrepresented. I have gained skills in database management, using MARC records, cultivating vendor relationships and conducting reference interviews. Along the way, I created relationships with peers and professors and facilitated a book club on emerging issues in librarianship. I was named a 2019-2020 American Library Association Spectrum Scholar, and attended the Public Libraries Association Conference in February 2020. As I conclude my time at the iSchool, I am eager to begin my journey as a professional librarian, and ready to bring my skills and experiences to my community, share what I've learned, and always keep learning. I would love for you to view my resume and shoot me an email at [email protected] if you're interested and want to learn more about what I can bring to your library. |
While attending the University of Michigan I had the chance to meet Issa Rae (left), award winning creator of Awkward Black Girl and Insecure. It was a true highlight of my time in Ann Arbor!
